The Making of Christmas Part 2

The first thing I made was the Santa Snack Mix.  If you follow me on Facebook, Clever Cakes then you saw the special syrup I made to pour on top of it before I baked it at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

cookies christmas

I made over 300 cookies this year, and sometimes it’s impossible to get pictures of every one of them! But here’s a sample of the types of cookies I made.  I give them out as gifts but I also need them for my family for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!  Don’t worry, all these recipes will be in my recipe book which will be released late January 2019!

Then I made the Christmas Tree Cake. Thank goodness for pans that are already in the shape! It cuts the process in half!  I made a Golden Butter Cake and then I topped it with vanilla icing that was made green.  Of course, no cake would be complete without little decorations!

nephew

This year my nephew who is almost 3, got his first baking set and we learned how to bake cookies. Those are the ones he baked with his Auntie’s help!

I wish you all a Very Merry and Bright Christmas!!!

Let The Holiday Baking Begin!

I can’t believe that I am typing this but the holiday season is officially here!  This year just flew by.  For the next five weeks I will be blogging all my holiday baking tips, photos of recipes, the fun I have while wrapping gifts and making DIY gifts (Which are my favorite type of gifts to give!) and more!

Here are memories of Christmas past.

gingerbread boy This is the gingerbread boy I made but with chocolate chip cookie dough instead since gingerbread wasn’t liked by the person who received this. Also I decorated with footballs since that is what this guy enjoys watching.  I used orange tic-tacs for the nose and chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth.

santa Another memory of holiday cookies I have baked in the past were these Santa cookies. Just bake a regular cookie of your choice, (make them a little bigger than you would) make white frosting or use store bought, red sprinkles for the hat, black M&Ms for the eyes, a red M&M for the nose, and mini-marshmallows for the hate trim and beard.  Ho! Ho! Ho!

oreos Here’s the last memory for now. Chocolate-Covered Oreos. All you need is a package of Oreos, (Please try some self-control and not eat them, I will admit I did eat 2 of them!)  you can make your own chocolate, but for those who don’t have time, you can melt some chocolate wafers they sell in craft stores, and then have some freaking fun and decorate them!!

Treats or Tricks

I love creating new recipes and creating new ways to present them.   Here I put angel food cake into little jars, decorated it with leaf sprinkles, and added icing from a pastry bag. Then I went to the dollar store and bought appetizer size forks and taped them to the top of the jar for easy use.

pumpkin

I also this past week, made pumpkin spice cookies and then dipped  in my homemade combo of of milk and dark chocolate.

Find out what I make this week…..  I got some tricks up my sleeve. ( And it’s not even Halloween yet!)

Let the Fall Baking Begin!

apple cookies

It’s officially fall so do you know that means?

It means my favorite time of year starts: Fall Baking!

The picture above are the Apple Caramel Cookies I baked for a dentist’s office open house they were hosting.  Yes, even dentists love cookies!

There are many different things I love to bake during this time of year.  Let this be a warning that you will be seeing the posts pile up in the next few weeks.

Before I go though, let me ask all of you a question: What is your favorite dessert to bake during fall?

Say Hello To Fall And Goodbye To Summer

We now have unofficially, said goodbye to summer and hello to fall.  S’mores is really a summer treat, but you can have it all year round. This recipe above, uses all the same ingredients to make S’mores, (Marshmallows, Chocolate,) but instead of the graham crackers, I replace them with chocolate chip cookies.  I then dip half of the top cookie into chocolate and have those go into the fridge to harden.  Then I put a good size piece of chocolate on top of an inside cookie and a giant marshmallow on top if it.

I put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 315 degrees. As soon as they come out of the oven, the top cookies goes on top.  Then you need to place them back in the fridge if you are serving them later, if you are serving them directly from oven, the chocolate will be melting and the marshmallow gooey.

To say hello to fall, I created “pie-like” cookies. The cookies are shortbread, they work better than any other cookie.  The top part, well, that’s a secret. BUT wait until I tell you in my upcoming recipe book I am putting together- just how easy it is to make these cookies.

It’s really easy to make both of these cookies, but you know what it even easier? Having me do it for you. Email me at clevercakesandcrafts@gmail.com for details.

Why Clever Cakes?

When a consumer supports their local business owners, they enjoy the benefits they can’t possibly get from shopping at national chains. When you personally know the people behind the business where you’re buying local products and services, you enjoy a connection you would not otherwise have. You celebrate their ups and also encourage their downs. This personal investment isn’t present with a big corporation or chain store. Local businesses give a community its flavor. My brand is different from any chain or corporation out there. I know the products you buy or the services you request on a regular basis and can tailor those services to make your experience even better.

Being a female entrepreneur, and being passionate about what I do, makes me want to reach my brand, ideas and products outward to a bigger audience. I put myself into my work and create something that’s enjoyable on multiple levels. I want to create a connection with my audience not only through my podcast, but through my books, my social media services and the products I will sell. Clever Cakes is owned and operated by your neighbor! I care about and invest in the well-being of my community and its future. Local businesses are more accountable to their local communities and donate more money to non-profits. Besides having my company and brand donate to local charities, I also want to be able to reach a greater audience and help in any way I can through having my brand supported with your help.

I have always wanted to develop a product line. My exclusive tote bags, T-shirts, and sneakers, are designed with love, creativity, and passion. Not only do I love a great product, but I also love a great cookie. I have loved to bake since I was younger. There’s nothing quite like taking a bite out of a fresh cookie! Eventually, I would like to sell those during the fall and winter months and also have subscription boxes that are unique and make each customer feel that way as well. This is why my brand, Clever Cakes is so important to me.

It’s more than just having a dream fulfilled. It’s also being able to reach out and knowing that small businesses do not always stay small – hence why corporations are developed through the priceless support of local and small businesses. We need to make sure we publicize and highlight the successes of female entrepreneurs. Role models are a motivators and many women who own a small business, are sought out by young girls and offer them mentor-ship and investment in their ideas.
