Update on Recipe Book

Love at First cover revised 3-12-19

It’s not that easy to type up a recipe book! It’s a lot of work! I have to get all my recipes in line, look at them, and make sure that they have instructions and ingredients all listed. It’s not like writing a blog post, where I can just type away.

It’s coming along. I hope to have the book DONE by the end of JUNE and then edited, by the end of the summer with it’s release in September.

Stay tuned.

By the way….. IN the book is my fan-favorite recipe “S’mores Bars” which are a really big hit and can be made ANY time of the year.  I just made them the other day for a friend for his birthday and he told me to put it in my “sassy file!”

Treats or Tricks

I love creating new recipes and creating new ways to present them.   Here I put angel food cake into little jars, decorated it with leaf sprinkles, and added icing from a pastry bag. Then I went to the dollar store and bought appetizer size forks and taped them to the top of the jar for easy use.

I also this past week, made pumpkin spice cookies and then dipped  in my homemade combo of of milk and dark chocolate.

Find out what I make this week…..  I got some tricks up my sleeve. ( And it’s not even Halloween yet!)

You can’t go wrong with Chocolate (really)

I really love experimenting with creativity.  I also love experimenting with chocolate. Now, we all love chocolate covered Oreos.  Yes, I use Oreos in a lot of my recipes. I just love how those cookie taste.  Everything is better with Oreos.

So it’s no surprise that my chocolate covered Oreos are a hit with fans, customers, and even friends. The best part of dunking an Oreo into chocolate, is afterwards: It’s the decorating part! You can really put anything on top. Here I have a heart and fall leaves. My love for Fall, chocolate and Oreos all rolled into one.

One day at the supermarket I went down the candy isle. I saw these orange slices and mint leaves gummy candies and I wondered, how would these turn out if I dipped part of them in dark chocolate? Well, the results were awesome!  Not only does it look fun, it tastes even better.

I just added marshmallows at the end of each skewer, to avoid pinching my fingers while holding it.  It also adds some “flair” and marshmallows really go with chocolate! These are great for parties- or a quick sweet snack.

Tell me what you think.

You Can Mostly Dip Anything In Chocolate

First off, who doesn’t love chocolate and Oreos? Secondly, they taste 100x better together!   The picture on the left is my new chocolate Oreo fudge! Available for purchasing.  I will eventually put it in the recipe cookbook I am writing. So many people ask me how I make my treats.

The picture on the right is a picture of my strawberry filled cookie, ( it looks like a fig newton) dipped in milk chocolate.  They taste really yummy, if I don’t say so myself!

clever cakes labels

I have also created my very own allergy alert labels for all those with food allergies.  There are so many people who have allergies that it is a baker’s responsibility to make sure customers know what ingredients are in each homemade treat.

Why Clever Cakes?

When a consumer supports their local business owners, they enjoy the benefits they can’t possibly get from shopping at national chains. When you personally know the people behind the business where you’re buying local products and services, you enjoy a connection you would not otherwise have. You celebrate their ups and also encourage their downs. This personal investment isn’t present with a big corporation or chain store. Local businesses give a community its flavor. My brand is different from any chain or corporation out there. I know the products you buy or the services you request on a regular basis and can tailor those services to make your experience even better.

Being a female entrepreneur, and being passionate about what I do, makes me want to reach my brand, ideas and products outward to a bigger audience. I put myself into my work and create something that’s enjoyable on multiple levels. I want to create a connection with my audience not only through my podcast, but through my books, my social media services and the products I will sell. Clever Cakes is owned and operated by your neighbor! I care about and invest in the well-being of my community and its future. Local businesses are more accountable to their local communities and donate more money to non-profits. Besides having my company and brand donate to local charities, I also want to be able to reach a greater audience and help in any way I can through having my brand supported with your help.

I have always wanted to develop a product line. My exclusive tote bags, T-shirts, and sneakers, are designed with love, creativity, and passion. Not only do I love a great product, but I also love a great cookie. I have loved to bake since I was younger. There’s nothing quite like taking a bite out of a fresh cookie! Eventually, I would like to sell those during the fall and winter months and also have subscription boxes that are unique and make each customer feel that way as well. This is why my brand, Clever Cakes is so important to me.

It’s more than just having a dream fulfilled. It’s also being able to reach out and knowing that small businesses do not always stay small – hence why corporations are developed through the priceless support of local and small businesses. We need to make sure we publicize and highlight the successes of female entrepreneurs. Role models are a motivators and many women who own a small business, are sought out by young girls and offer them mentor-ship and investment in their ideas.
